I AM NOT

I am not going to carry dead men’s bones.

I am not going to sleep in your city morgue.

I am not going to cry in your funeral parlor.

I am not going to carry dead men’s bones.

I am tired of sleeping with the “e-ne-me” I am tired of wasting my time.

I gotta’ a new song that was given to me.

I will not sing one funeral dirge.

I am not going to sleep in your county jail.

I am not going to carry your ball and chain.

I am not going to mark my time in misery.

I am not because I know whose I am.

I am not shuffling in your misery line.

I am not dying to stand in your roll calls.

I am not serving time because I was made to be free.

So, I excuse you, and you will excuse me.

Because I will not recite your effigies

I am not going to strum your blues chords.

I have got a kingdom that awaits me I have died to be raised lifted and free.

I have a royal robe and refuse to wear grave cloths.

Because I know the tombstone was rolled

And the rock of ages clefts for me.

He grants me a life victoriously, abundantly, and eternally.
